Octopus Deploy
Summary
Join Octopus Deploy as a Lead Product Designer to shape the future of AI experiences for continuous deployments. You will craft intuitive, developer-focused experiences that enhance deployment workflows. The role involves designing intelligent user experiences, translating complex technical concepts into clear UI, and ensuring AI-generated suggestions are easily interpreted. You will collaborate with engineers and product managers, conduct usability testing, and champion a human-centered design approach. This remote role, based in Australia or New Zealand, requires 7+ years of product design experience, including 3+ years in developer-facing tools. You should possess a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to translate complex workflows into intuitive designs and be proficient in Figma and prototyping tools.
Requirements
- 7+ years of product design experience, ideally 3+ of those years in developer-facing tools or technical B2B platforms
- A strong portfolio demonstrating how you've translated complex workflows into streamlined, intuitive designs. Favourable if your experience has previously catered to expert users in software engineering or DevOps domains
- Familiarity with the deployment lifecycle, monitoring, alerting, and environment configuration
- Fluency in Figma and prototyping tools; comfortable building interactive prototypes and clean UI at speed
- Deep interest in AI/ML and how LLMs can augment developer tooling, you're curious about prompt design, semantic search, agent-based automation, or predictive UX
- Strength in systems thinking and component-based design, ensuring consistency across complex surfaces like logs, dashboards, and workflows
- Strong communication and collaboration skills. You can present clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and know how to handle trade-offs with confidence and a clear rationale
Responsibilities
- Design intelligent, scalable user experiences for our product used by engineering teams, focusing on surfacing insights, alerts, and workflows powered by LLMs and automation

- The AI experiences you help surface will guide engineers to confidently interpret and act on AI-generated suggestions, balancing automation with transparency and control
- Consider end-to-end design across multiple surfaces (dashboards, overlays, CLI-integrated UX, notifications) with a bias toward minimalism, speed, and usability that fosters customer trust
- Create and evolve UI components and patterns that will be published in our design system
- Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to explore how AI can automate decisions, suggest optimisations, and reduce friction in deployment workflows
- Actively run usability testing, discovery interviews, and internal testing to validate design decisions and surface insights to guide the team's roadmap
- Champion a human-centred, developer-first mindset in the development of new AI capabilities
