Join Bixal as a Lead UX Designer to spearhead design strategy and execution for a project with the FDIC Office of Communications. This hands-on leadership role requires a blend of strategic vision and design execution, driving the evolution of the FDIC's user experience and visual systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring accessible, coherent, and intuitive interfaces across platforms. This full-time position, contingent on contract award, offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact. Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree plus at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Significant proven and success in leadership roles for UX, UI, or digital product design
- Demonstrated success in team mentorship, creative direction, or leading multi-disciplinary design teams
- Proven leadership on enterprise-level or federal digital service projects
- Deep expertise in information architecture, interaction design, and visual design systems
- Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar
- Strong command of human-centered design methodologies and accessibility standards
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environments with shifting priorities
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Responsibilities
- Lead UX Strategy and Design Execution
- Design intuitive, accessible, and user-centered digital experiences across FDIC web and intranet platforms
- Create detailed information architectures, user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes grounded in user needs and stakeholder goals
- Align design direction with user research insights, analytics, brand guidelines, and digital service best practices
- Oversee Visual and Interface Design
- Define and maintain scalable visual design systems that are flexible across web, intranet, and mobile
- Direct cohesive visual language and interaction patterns across all digital touchpoints
- Partner with content strategists and front-end developers to ensure implementation fidelity and usability
- Facilitate Research and Usability Testing
- Lead and synthesize user research through interviews, usability testing, and surveys
- Translate findings into iterative improvements to elevate the user experience
- Champion Accessibility and Compliance
- Ensure accessibility is embedded into all phases of design and development
- Maintain compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 standards
- Support Drupal Site Design and Implementation
- Collaborate on site architecture, layout templates, and content strategy within a Drupal CMS
- Provide design guidance for custom modules, responsive layout behavior, and component usage
- Other relevant duties as assigned, trained, and qualified to perform
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with the FDIC, federal financial agencies, or highly regulated digital platforms
- Familiarity with Agile development practices
- Ability to distill complex content and policy into clear, user-friendly digital experiences
