You will be responsible for recording and logging court proceedings, managing equipment, and communicating effectively with colleagues and clients. Prior experience as a Digital Reporter/Logger is required, along with strong technical and communication skills. eScribers offers a freelance contract with direct deposit payment, but the volume of work may fluctuate. The onboarding process includes an aptitude test, interview, and background check.

Requirements

  • Reside in the UK
  • Be legally entitled to work in the UK
  • Have previously worked as a Digital Reporter/Logger (ie, previous experience is a requirement)
  • Have a current UK bank account to receive payment
  • Be reliable, with good time management and plenty of flexibility (as proceedings can overrun)
  • Be a confident communicator (written & verbal)
  • Be smart and well presented
  • Be able to remain calm under pressure. Intermediate technical IT/AV troubleshooting skills
  • Good keyboard skills
  • A confident Microsoft Windows, Word user
  • Knowledge and application of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax skills
  • Have good attention to detail and focus
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Discretion and the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Problem identification and resolution skills
  • Be able to travel in and around the London area

Responsibilities

  • Transporting and setting up of digital recording equipment both remotely and on location
  • Managing the recording and logging of events in a professional and efficient manner, adhering to agreed timescales, and seeking appropriate support when necessary
  • Communicating effectively and appropriately with colleagues, clients and venue staff in order to best achieve eScribers’ contractual obligations to the highest standards
  • Building relationships with clients and host venues to ensure the smooth running of the event, and to facilitate the transfer of information to enable a quality transcript to be produced
  • Possessing an understanding of Court proceedings and basic legal terminology
  • Providing a high level of customer service and support to all Stakeholders
  • Identifying and troubleshooting common issues
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of legal terminology
  • Courtroom experience
