Legal Intern

Summary

Join Mercy For Animals as a Law Scholars for Change legal intern and gain invaluable experience in animal protection law. This remote internship offers the chance to work directly with attorneys on high-impact projects, including legal research, drafting memoranda and presentations, contract work, and corporate governance tasks. The program is open to Law Scholars for Change members, current law students, and licensed lawyers. Interns will work 12-15 hours per week for 14 weeks in both Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, earning $20 per hour. The internship provides hands-on experience, constructive feedback, and networking opportunities within Mercy For Animals and the Law Scholars for Change network. Applications open February 20, 2025, and close March 13, 2025.

Requirements

• Be a Law Scholars for Change member or a current law student
• Hold a license to practice law in at least one U.S. state (for lawyers)

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze federal, state, and local laws
• Draft memoranda and create presentations related to programmatic and fundraising projects
• Draft and revise contracts
• Assist with corporate governance tasks pertaining to legal compliance
