Legal Intern

Summary

Join the California Independent System Operator (ISO) as a paid summer intern (10-12 weeks, Summer 2025) and gain valuable experience in energy law. Work alongside experienced legal professionals in an in-house setting, advising internal clients and stakeholders on regulatory compliance, litigation, contract negotiation, and corporate matters. This internship offers opportunities to interact with executive leadership, attend industry seminars, and participate in social activities. The position is open to 1L and 2L law students interested in energy law, with a December 2025 or later graduation date. The internship provides real-world experience and contributes to the ISO's mission of leading the way to tomorrow's energy network.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school program
• Graduating December of 2025 or later
• Applicants must be interested in a career in energy law

Responsibilities

• Gain energy law experience in an in-house environment at the California ISO
• Advise internal clients and work with western stakeholders on regulatory compliance, litigation, contract negotiation, and corporate matters
• Represent the ISO before federal and state courts, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and public utility commissions

Preferred Qualifications

Mainly seeking 1L applicants, but interested 2L applicants welcome
