The position offers a unique remote work lifestyle with provided meals, accommodations, and travel from Edmonton. The schedule is a 4-week on/2-week off rotation. Requirements

  • Experience working in remote or fly-in/fly-out camps in Canada, particularly in industrial or commercial settings
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and record-keeping systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Hands-on experience with kitchen appliances, including refrigeration units, ovens, fryers, dishwashers, and other commercial kitchen equipment
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults in appliances and electrical systems
  • Safety-conscious and familiar with health and safety standards in remote work environments
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage time efficiently
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with an emphasis on minimizing downtime
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in challenging environments with varying weather and remote camp conditions
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting issues and working with the camp team
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions and extreme weather (seasonal)
  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks related to electrical and appliance repairs

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on kitchen appliances (ovens, fridges, dishwashers, deep fryers, etc.) and electrical systems in the camp kitchen
  • Conduct regular inspections of all electrical appliances and systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Quickly diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues in appliances and kitchen equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and uninterrupted camp operations
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new kitchen appliances and electrical systems as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls related to electrical failures or appliance breakdowns, ensuring quick resolution to minimize disruption
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for appliance repairs, ordering supplies as required to ensure adequate stock levels
  • Work closely with other maintenance staff and camp management to address any electrical or equipment-related concerns promptly and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician Certification or equivalent in a relevant trade
  • First Aid with CPR certification
