Manager, 3D Software Engineering

Summary

The job is for an Engineering Manager to oversee a new team of 3D engineers at Dandy, focusing on improving and building new 3D systems in the browser. The role requires experience in managing teams, 3D/CAD software engineering, cross-platform code, web-based 3D tooling, and more. Bonus expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, cloud-based environment, and AI/ML is welcomed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience managing teams with a minimum of five engineers
• 4+ years of experience as a 3D/CAD software engineer
• Experience building user facing applications leveraging common GUI concepts
• Knowledge of C++ design principles
• Experience with cross platform code - especially via WebGL
• Experience building web-based 3D tooling
• Familiarity with 3D rendering algorithms and procedures
• Experience working directly with recruiters to develop and drive the recruiting pipeline and processes (including interviewing)
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience or education
• Experience in profiling, debugging, and testing complex systems

Responsibilities

• Oversee a new team of 3D engineers
• Improve our tooling and build new, state-of-the-art 3D systems in the browser
• Partner closely with the team’s product manager and senior CAD designers
• Work collaboratively with our AI team to build intelligent, automated solutions
• Support a culture of writing robust, high-performance code
• Work closely with many different products and teams across Dandy to integrate 3D tools
• Review engineering proposals and provide detailed, constructive feedback

Preferred Qualifications

• JavaScript/TypeScript
• ReactJS
• Worked in a cloud-based environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Experience working directly with AI/ML teams
