Summary

Join Axios as an experienced acquisition leader to drive membership growth across 100+ cities and subject-matter-expert memberships. This role is crucial for building a sustainable future for independent journalism. The ideal candidate is a data-driven marketer skilled in storytelling and scaling membership acquisition. You will build and optimize a full-funnel acquisition engine, unlock price and value proposition levers, create high-impact testing loops, and partner with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include developing growth plans, executing lifecycle campaigns, assisting with pricing and paywall testing, identifying value propositions, and refining member experiences. The position requires 5-8+ years of experience in growth or performance marketing, preferably in a subscription business model.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of hands-on experience in growth, digital, or performance marketing
  • A track record of owning strategy and execution, not just assisting with campaigns
  • Proven experience in using email marketing as a key lever for growth
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, aligning marketing strategies with broader business objectives
  • Strong analytical skills and quantitative capabilities, utilizing data-driven decision-making to optimize marketing efforts, achieve subscription targets, and challenge assumptions through research and performance metrics
  • Exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and strategic focus in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the ability to pivot strategies in response to changing conditions
  • Embrace an entrepreneurial and mission-driven mindset, ensuring the successful navigation of dynamic business landscapes

Responsibilities

  • Develop short- and long-term plans that achieve our consumer revenue growth goals
  • Build and execute lifecycle campaigns across email, web, newsletters, OOH and in-product placements, driving forward strategic product and content marketing campaigns
  • Assist in pricing and paywall testing β€” testing configurations and promotions to boost conversion and LTV
  • Identify and market value propositions and benefits that resonate with members and drive retention at scale through qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Partner across product, design, and editorial to refine onboarding, checkout, and creative assets
  • Run structured A/B testing programs and feedback loops to inform messaging, benefit positioning, and creative
  • Track performance and attribution across channels β€” and report out insights, KPIs, and areas for investment or improvement
  • Help manage annual campaign calendars and coordinate messaging with broader growth efforts
  • Bring sharp editorial judgment and ensure all copy stays on-brand and mission-aligned

Preferred Qualifications

Preference for experience in promoting products within a recurring revenue, subscription or membership business model, with a track record of success in this area
