Deliver on client KPIs for organic visibility and balance multiple projects while adapting to algorithm changes. This role demands a detail-oriented SEO specialist capable of working in a dynamic agency environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving rankings and organic traffic growth. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely or in New York, NY / Los Angeles, CA.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of hands-on SEO experience, preferably in an agency or multi-client environment. Proven track record of implementing SEO tactics that have led to improved rankings and organic traffic growth over time (case studies or examples will be a plus)
  • Solid understanding of search engine algorithms and ranking factors. Expertise in both on-page SEO (content optimization, HTML tags, keyword usage) and technical SEO (site architecture, page speed optimization, structured data). Familiarity with off-page SEO and link-building strategies is also required
  • Proficiency with SEO and analytics tools: must be adept at using Google Search Console and Google Analytics for monitoring performance, as well as SEO-specific tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, or similar for research and tracking. Ability to use these tools to diagnose issues and find opportunities is essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Comfortable digging into data to identify trends or anomalies, and translating those into actionable SEO improvements. Should be able to make data-driven decisions and measure the impact of optimizations (e.g., changes in rankings or traffic after a fix)
  • Ability to translate keyword opportunities into actionable recommendations for relevant and engaging content to drive viewer engagement and page ranking
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities – capable of balancing priorities across several client projects and delivering results on schedule. Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to adjust strategies quickly in response to algorithm updates or shifts in client goals
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to clearly report on SEO performance and explain complex SEO concepts in simple terms to clients or account teams. Effective at collaborating with cross-functional colleagues, such as content writers, designers, and developers, to implement SEO recommendations
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Ensuring accuracy in reporting, avoiding mistakes in optimization (like broken links or incorrect redirects), and adhering to best practices that prevent penalties
  • Passion for SEO and digital marketing – stays curious and continuously learns about new SEO tools, techniques, and trends. Maybe you experiment with new strategies on your own or follow industry experts to keep your knowledge fresh

Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive SEO tasks for client websites on a daily basis. This includes conducting in-depth keyword research, optimizing on-page elements (titles, meta descriptions, headings, content) for target keywords, and improving internal linking to boost relevance and rankings
  • Perform regular technical SEO audits to identify and resolve issues that could impact crawlability or rankings – such as broken links, sitemap errors, indexing problems, site speed/performance issues, or mobile usability concerns. Coordinate with developers to implement technical fixes and enhancements
  • Implement and manage off-page SEO efforts like link building and content outreach campaigns under the guidance of the SEO Director. Identify backlink opportunities, manage relationships for guest posts or partnerships, and monitor backlink profiles for quality and compliance
  • Monitor and analyze SEO performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and other SEO software. Track keyword rankings, organic traffic trends, click-through rates, and conversion metrics. Prepare regular reports that detail progress, insights, and recommendations for each client
  • Continuously refine SEO tactics based on data-driven insights: if certain keywords or pages are underperforming, adjust the strategy (update content, tweak keywords, improve page UX, etc.) to capitalize on opportunities. Use A/B testing or multivariate testing for SEO changes when applicable to measure impact
  • Stay up-to-date with search engine algorithm changes (Google core updates, etc.) and industry trends. Quickly adapt optimization strategies in response to new SEO developments or ranking factor changes to maintain and improve client results
  • Collaborate closely with the SEO Director to ensure alignment with the overarching SEO strategy and priorities. Provide input and feedback during strategy sessions based on on-the-ground findings and performance data
  • Work with content writers to plan and produce SEO-friendly content (blog posts, landing page copy, etc.) that balances ranking objectives with quality and user intent. Similarly, liaise with web developers/designers to ensure site changes or new features are SEO-compliant (for example, proper use of heading tags, avoidance of content duplication, etc.)
  • Educate or inform junior team members, account managers, or clients on SEO best practices as needed – helping others understand how SEO efforts contribute to broader marketing goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, computer science, or a related field is a plus
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Analytics Individual Qualification) are welcome but not mandatory
