Summary

Join our lean and agile team as a Managing Director, reporting directly to the VP of Corporate Development. You will play a key role in expanding our network within the Bay Area's startup ecosystem. Responsibilities include generating deal flow, evaluating early-stage investment opportunities, and fostering relationships with later-stage companies and investors. You will act as our local representative, sourcing deals, building relationships, and providing market insights. This position requires significant travel. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in venture capital or startup investments and a strong network within the Bay Area's startup and VC ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in Venture Capital, Corporate Venture Capital, or Startup Investments
  • Prior experience in early-stage investing and working with founders
  • Strong network within the startup and VC ecosystem, in the U.S. West Coast, specifically the Bay Area
  • Ability to identify and assess startups with high growth potential
  • Solid understanding of financial modeling, due diligence, and investment structuring
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and travel often
  • Bay Area-Based candidates who are willing and able to travel at minimum of 3 weeks a quarter

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and engage with promising early-stage startups that align with our investment thesis
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of investment opportunities
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and due diligence on potential investments
  • Work closely with internal teams to assess strategic fit and financial potential of target companies
  • Work in collaboration with the corp dev team and provide local help in M&A activities
  • Act as the company’s local representative in the startup and investor community
  • Build and maintain relationships with VC firms, accelerators, founders, other CVCs and industry leaders
  • Identify and engage with later-stage companies for potential strategic partnerships
  • Attend industry conferences, pitch events, and networking opportunities to enhance our presence
  • Provide regular reports on local market trends, competitive landscape, and investment opportunities
  • Offer insights on emerging technologies and business models relevant to our investment focus
  • Collaborate with the broader investment team to align local efforts with global strategy
