Summary

Join CesiumAstro as a Summer 2025 - Manufacturing Intern to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of manufacturing while supporting the daily operations of our organization. As a Manufacturing Intern, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team, assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues, create and maintain detailed manufacturing process documentation, collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes, assist in quality control activities, learn and apply lean manufacturing principles, and stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an Associateโ€™s, Bachelorโ€™s, or Masterโ€™s program in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field at an accredited institution
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and improve manufacturing processes
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, CAD software, and engineering principles
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, share ideas, and contribute to collective goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in process documentation and quality control activities
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a desire to take on new challenges and responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues by applying engineering principles and problem-solving skills
  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flowcharts
  • Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Assist in quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and root cause analysis for non-conforming products
  • Learn and apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline production processes and reduce waste
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to bring innovative ideas to the team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electronics assemblies
  • Experience with SMT methods
  • Experience with CNC manufacturing
