Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty Member in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program! Teach and mentor graduate students online using the Canvas platform, providing timely feedback and fostering a supportive learning environment. You will be responsible for course instruction, interacting with students, and maintaining a regular online presence. Some travel may be required for residencies and meetings. This role requires a doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program, current state licensure, and a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the Master's/Doctoral level. Requirements
- Possess an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program
- Hold current state licensure as a Counselor
- Have a minimum of three years of experience teaching and mentoring Master's and/or Doctoral level students, including directing thesis/dissertation research
- Be able to provide leadership and mentoring for students in the research process and demonstrate a strongly student-centered nature
- Show interest in establishing a community of counseling students
- Be able to provide support in program assessment
- Be able to assume a significant role in addressing student questions and concerns about the program
- Have experience supervising students in their field training experience
- Demonstrate commitment to the goals of diversity and social change
- Be able to work with non-traditional students
- Be able to participate in residencies/pre-practica, national faculty meetings and other work-related travel, if needed
- Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
- Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
- Have reliable internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
- Be appropriately credentialed and possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught
- Maintain licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue teaching at Walden University
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses using the Canvas platform
- Interact with students through the Canvas platform, responding to questions within 48 hours
- Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions
- Provide feedback and grades to students through Canvas
- Publish availability to students through course syllabi (e.g., online office hours)
- Attend residencies/Pre-practica to teach intensives and colloquia, and facilitate discussions
- Complete training in dissertation chairing and service
- Serve on doctoral dissertations
- Complete other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs
- Publish and acknowledge Walden University if participating in research
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
