Summary

Join Gusto as an Engineering Leader and Manager for the Ruby Modularity team. Responsible for improving application architecture in crucial backend applications, leading a team of engineering talent, and collaborating with various teams to develop end-to-end product experiences. Offices are located in Denver, San Francisco, New York City, and remote work is available.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering people leadership experience
  • 12+ years of hands-on programming experience
  • Experience with working on Ruby, Rails, and with modularization techniques like libraries, packages, and gradual modularization
  • Experience in empowering and nurturing technical teams of 4-10 engineers
  • Experience in managing and resolving complex product development issues
  • Experience in leading large scope technical projects and driving engineering excellence

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of engineering talent and diversify it over time
  • Build and foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture
  • Improve the application architecture of crucial applications in Gusto’s portfolio
  • Collaborate with other technical infrastructure engineering teams, product development teams, data science, operations, product management and design teams to lead and own developing end-to-end product experiences for complex customer needs
  • Work closely with Leadership to help set priorities for both short term and long term roadmaps and to create accountability for progress on ongoing work

  • Self-driven mindset, and the ability to work in the in-between space of leading and supporting people and driving direct, hands-on impact
  • Passionate about creating memorable experiences for customers

Benefits

  • Cash compensation amount targeted at $190,000-$215,000 in Denver & most remote locations, and $225,000-$260,000 for San Francisco, Seattle & New York
  • Office expectations: Employees who are based in Gusto offices will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role)
  • Remote work available with a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection
