National Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

Summary

Join Second Harvest, Canada's largest food rescue organization, as the National Volunteer Engagement Coordinator! This full-time, remote position (based in Alberta) offers a competitive salary ($52,000-$57,000) plus benefits and involves approximately 30% domestic and national travel. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers nationally, building and maintaining a volunteer roster, and coordinating with field operations staff. Requirements

• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector, with volunteer services programs, special events programs and their management and administration
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with Raiser’s Edge (or similar CRM)

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers as the program grows nationally
• Build and maintain an active roster of community-based volunteers in key markets to support organizational goals
• Act as the main liaison between field operations staff and volunteers, ensuring smooth coordination and satisfaction
• Plan and execute volunteer logistics for national events, community activities, and corporate engagement initiatives
• Lead volunteer appreciation efforts, including National Volunteer Week activities and special events
• Maintain accurate records in Raiser’s Edge, contributing to reports on volunteer hours, program outcomes, and KPIs
• Evaluate the Volunteer Program regularly for efficiency and growth opportunities, supporting strategic planning initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education and/or experience in volunteer management, human resources, social work, or similar field
• Fluency in English and French
