Summary

You will oversee all aspects of network cabling projects, from planning and design to installation and maintenance. This role requires managing external contractor teams, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and within budget. The position demands strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as adherence to industry standards and safety regulations. Requirements

  • Travel up to 12 business days per month
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in network cabling, infrastructure design, or a related field
  • Proven experience in managing and overseeing network cabling installation projects, including team leadership
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work in various environments, including construction sites or server rooms
  • Comfortable with physical tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting materials, and performing site inspections
  • On call support required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end management of network cabling projects, including initial planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including IT departments, engineers, and vendors, to define project scope and requirements
  • Develop detailed project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring clear communication of expectations to all parties involved
  • Travel to various communities (domestic)
  • Lead the design and implementation of network cabling layouts, ensuring adherence to industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA-568, ANSI/BICSI standards)
  • Conduct site surveys to assess environmental factors and provide recommendations for optimal cabling designs
  • Manage the installation, termination, and testing of various types of cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics)
  • Manage and coordinate on-site teams of cabling technicians and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
  • Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to team members, promoting best practices in cabling installation and troubleshooting
  • Ensure all work meets regulatory and industry compliance standards, including local codes and safety regulations
  • Oversee the testing and certification of completed cabling systems, ensuring that performance meets network requirements (e.g., signal integrity, data transmission rates)
  • Identify and resolve any issues or obstacles that arise during the cabling installation process, providing timely solutions to avoid delays
  • Manage and address any post-installation problems or service requests related to cabling infrastructure
  • Work closely with third-party vendors and suppliers to procure materials, tools, and equipment for cabling projects
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns or changes in scope
  • Maintain accurate records of all project-related activities, including design diagrams, work orders, and change orders
  • Prepare regular project progress reports and ensure all documentation is up-to-date for future reference or audits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber optic cabling and installations
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure planning and design, including switches, routers, and servers
  • Familiarity with cable management systems and troubleshooting tools
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to support network cabling design and installation

  • The expected annual salary range for this role is $80,000-$90,000 USD, depending upon the job level, which will depend on your level of expertise, your experience, and your qualifications
