Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrable experience as a Tier 2 Network Engineer or in a comparable role
- Profound knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security principles
- Hands-on familiarity with network hardware and software, including Cisco ACI, NX-OS, IOS, Cisco UCS, F5, and similar platforms
- Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and protocols
- Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, OCI, and others
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and promptly resolve network incidents, outages, and performance issues
- Collaborate with Tier 1 support to escalate and diagnose intricate network problems
- Implement network changes, updates, and patches with minimal disruption to services
- Conduct regular network audits and health checks to proactively identify and rectify potential issues
- Assist in the design, deployment, and upkeep of LAN, WAN, and data center networks
- Configure, deploy, and oversee network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points
- Collaborate across teams to ensure network requirements for new applications and services are met
- Enforce network security policies, protocols, and industry best practices
- Monitor network traffic for signs of suspicious activities and respond to security incidents as needed
- Perform vulnerability assessments and collaborate with the security team to mitigate vulnerabilities
- Monitor network performance metrics, identifying optimization opportunities
- Propose and implement network upgrades, capacity planning, and enhancements to improve network efficiency
- Maintain accurate and current network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures
- Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and their resolutions
- Collaborate with IT teams and departments, offering technical expertise and support
- Mentor and guide Tier 1 support engineers in enhancing their technical proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SolarWinds
- Relevant certifications like CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, or equivalents
