The Mary Sue is seeking a passionate, intersectional feminist freelance writer with significant knowledge of geek culture, internet culture, streamers, YouTubers, webseries, social media platforms, The Discourseβ’, fandom, weird internet memes, politics, and more. The candidate should be plugged into the 24/7 news cycle, have SEO experience, familiarity with WordPress/blogging platforms, and availability during business hours of 9β6PM Eastern. They should also provide at least two links to samples of their writing and links to their personal website/portfolio/blog, podcasts/videos, and/or any public social media accounts.
Requirements
- Being proud to be called a feminist and a geek
- Having a wide range of pop culture interests
- Being plugged into the internet
- Writing quickly and accurately
- Availability during The Mary Sue's business hours of 9β6PM Eastern
- Providing at least two links to samples of your writing
- Sharing links to your personal website/portfolio/blog, podcasts/videos, and/or any public social media accounts you would like to share
Responsibilities
Expanding The Mary Sue's online culture section, pitching stories on a wide range of subjects including review bombing on Steam, public figures' controversial social media posts, and more
