Summary

Join REGENT as a Perception Engineering Intern and assist in the design and implementation of perception systems for their innovative seagliders. You will work on developing algorithms that enable our vehicles to perceive their external environment, internal state, and operator intent across multiple operational modes.

Requirements

  • Currently a M.S. or PhD graduate student working towards a degree in computer science, artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer vision, robotics, computer graphics, or other related fields
  • Knowledge/experience in one of the following: Multi-Object Tracking, Multi-View Geometry, Multi-Modal Sensor Fusion, Computer Graphics/Rendering
  • Familiarity with high-bandwidth, exteroceptive sensor technologies such as Mono/RGB-D Cameras, LiDARs, Radar, Acoustic/Sonar
  • Experience with 3D data and representations (pointclouds, meshes, etc.)
  • A strong foundation in signal processing, state estimation, data association, and probabilistic methods
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and implementation of perception systems for our innovative seagliders
  • Develop algorithms that enable our vehicles to perceive their external environment, internal state, and operator intent across multiple operational modes: hull-borne, hydrofoil-borne, and wing-borne
  • Work on developing algorithms that enable our vehicles to perceive their external environment, internal state, and operator intent across multiple operational modes
  • Evaluate sensors and integrate perception capabilities into our vehicles
  • Gain exposure to high-fidelity simulations and may have the opportunity to participate in live-sea trials to verify and validate the software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong fluency in C++ (17+) and Python in a Linux environment
  • Experience working with OpenCV, GStreamer, PyTorch/TensorFlow, Eigen/NumPy
  • Familiarity with edge-device perception software stack development, especially with NVIDIA software libraries such as CUDA, TensorRT, and/or DeepStream
  • Experience with perception algorithms and sensor calibration techniques, especially at a previous internship experience
  • Experience working with Publish/Subscribe Middleware Technologies
