Summary

Join the Development Team at the Epilepsy Foundation as a Philanthropic Giving Officer! This critical role focuses on cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors contributing $1,000–$25,000 annually. You will manage a portfolio of approximately 250 donors, aiming to raise $1M–$3M in annual revenue. Responsibilities include implementing data-driven fundraising strategies, utilizing CRM systems, and building strong donor relationships through various communication channels. This remote position requires excellent communication, organizational, and fundraising skills. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of fundraising experience and a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, communications, business administration, or a relevant field
  • 3–5 years of fundraising experience with similar responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles and experience in individual donor fundraising
  • Experience working with donors who have a personal interest in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical or biomedical research, or a personal connection to epilepsy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new technical systems as needed
  • A track record of developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue through efficiencies and creative deployment of existing assets
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong knowledge of prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Demonstrated success in generating significant donor commitments ($1,000+)
  • Excellent writing skills, particularly in proposal writing
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to set and achieve work goals
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with individuals and groups
  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances
  • Strong ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective donors
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active portfolio of approximately 250 accounts with a giving capacity of $1,000–$25,000, aiming to raise between $1M–$3M in annual revenue
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic commitments to support the mission and goals of the Epilepsy Foundation
  • Utilize CRM systems to enhance data-driven precision fundraising
  • Acquire and maintain a strong understanding of the Foundation’s programs, campaigns, events, and fundraising/marketing themes and priorities
  • Implement and track data-driven, precision-fundraising engagement plans for each managed account
  • Develop relationships with individual supporters through regular direct contact (phone, email, and written correspondence) to retain and increase their support
  • Maintain a self-directed, remote-based operation with a strong focus on relationship building, achieving metrics, and active communication with the Vice President of Development and the development team
  • Conduct prospect research using internal and web-based tools to create prospect profiles and regularly update donor/prospect records in the Salesforce database
  • Actively participate in weekly calls with supervisors and the development team
  • When appropriate, assist in the planning and execution of special events designed to engage donors and prospective donors
  • Work with volunteers, national office staff, and field staff to develop and cultivate relationships
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally, including occasional evenings and weekends, to build donor relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of fundraising in a nonprofit affiliate model
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM
  • Knowledge of SharePoint
  • Experience working with CRMs to implement best practices in data tracking and management
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and epilepsy-related research
  • This is a full-time position (35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM Eastern)

Salary $75,000-$85,000
