Summary
Join BESIX Group as a Plant Manager for a major marine construction project in Mozambique. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project's equipment, ensuring its proper maintenance, and coordinating with other project managers. Responsibilities include creating an organizational chart for the plant department, supervising equipment services, and interacting with production and planning teams. You will also be responsible for field inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and liaising with the employer and engineer. This position requires a mechanical or electromechanical degree, extensive experience in large-scale construction projects, and excellent English communication skills. The role involves working and living in a remote base camp in Mozambique.
Requirements
- You have a mechanical or electro-mechanical degree (specialized mechanic β mechanical engineer)
- You have experience on large size construction projects as a Plant or Workshop Manager and preferably also with marine equipment
- You have gained additional experience in the mechanical and managerial aspects of the job
- You have at least 10 years of experience on similar jobs
- You are service minded and autonomous
- You are able to plan and administratively manage the maintenance of the plant under your supervision in collaboration with its operators and the project management
- You have experience with maintenance software
- You have a very good knowledge of English. Portuguese is a plus
- You are willing to work and live in a base camp in a remote area (Afungi - Mozambique) with a 6/3 rotation system
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the mechanics, lubrication, maintenance control, and fuel of the equipment on site
- Coordinate with the Construction Manager, to monitor the current planning of the works and its respective corrective measures related to plant and equipment
- Elaboration of the organizational chart of the plant department, definition of the attributions, authorities, and specific responsibilities up to the foreman level
- Supervise all services inherent to the equipment itself
- Interact with the production, planning, and commercial areas, identifying needs and acting in proposing technical solutions and methods of execution that best meet the deadlines and costs involved
- Observe, during the execution of the services, the compliance, only related to the equipment used on site, with the applicable safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Be responsible for field inspection of the equipment
- Ensure the flow of field information, so that the RDO reflects the daily production executed, the resources allocated, as well as all the problems and interferences found, aiming, from early stage till the detection of project problems, for efficient interface with the Employer and the Engineer
- Define and request the allocation of the equipment necessary for the production of the Works
- Liaise with the Employer's and Engineerβs supervision for all matters related to the equipment
- Use effective management practice of the norms, procedures, and regulations, as well as general and specific policies established for the SPE, as instruments for improving the agreed results
- Compliance with the SPE Quality and HSE Plans
