Summary
Join Veolia group as a Plant Manager and oversee the complete operation of a desalination facility, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency. Responsibilities include enforcing safety and environmental compliance, supervising staff, optimizing performance, managing budgets, implementing preventive maintenance, and ensuring water quality. You will develop and manage emergency response procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 10+ years of progressive experience in water treatment/desalination operations (5+ years in management), and strong knowledge of RO technology and SCADA systems. Additional requirements include experience with containerized/portable desalination units and willingness to stay at the remote location 24/7.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or a closely related field) is required
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in water treatment/desalination operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role, is required
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology, as well as other relevant water treatment processes, is essential
- Experience with SCADA systems, process control, and automation is required
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential for effective team management and stakeholder engagement
- Comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations and industry best practices is required
- 5+ years with containerized/portable systems
- Willingness to stay in Amalaa during O&M duration 24/7 (remote location)
- Driving License
- English language proficiency language
Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete operation of the desalination facility, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency in all areas
- This includes daily operations, maintenance, process optimization, and regulatory compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to all safety, health, environmental, and quality standards
- Implement and maintain safety programs, conduct regular inspections, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Lead, manage, and coordinate the activities of all plant personnel, including operations, maintenance, technical, and administrative teams
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and high performance
- Continuously monitor plant performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall plant performance
- Develop and manage plant budgets, control operational costs, and ensure financial sustainability
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports
- Implement and manage comprehensive preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime, extend asset life, and optimize plant reliability and availability
- Ensure that the produced water consistently meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements and quality standards
- Implement rigorous quality control measures and conduct regular water quality testing
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust emergency response procedures to effectively manage and mitigate potential risks and incidents
- Conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration is preferred
- Experience with portable/containerized desalination units modular systems (500-2000 m3/day per container)
- Multi-train system operation and optimization
