Remote Platform Engineer

Summary

Join Whatnot, the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe, as a Platform Engineer to help build new products and features quickly and reliably. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with product and infrastructure teams to achieve ambitious scaling goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Exceptional coding skills and the ability to ship new products lightning fast. We primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript, but previous knowledge of each is not required
• Deep knowledge of SQL and non-SQL storage systems (we currently have Postgres and DynamoDB but prior knowledge of these particular systems is not required)
• Prior experience in a public cloud environment (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tools like Terraform
• Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup. You’re an excellent problem solver and a self-starter who can hit the ground running with little direction
• Excellent ability to understand product requirements in the context of a scalable platform. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution
• Known for the high quality of your engineering designs
• Ability to pick up on new technologies very quickly
