Political Data Associate

Summary

Join GoodParty.org as a Political Data Associate and contribute to our mission of empowering independent candidates. This part-time contract role, lasting until May 16, 2025, with potential for extension, focuses on collecting, cleaning, and verifying candidate data. You will conduct online research, make outreach calls to elected officials, maintain accurate records, and utilize AI tools. The position requires strong data skills, political field experience, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and excellent communication abilities. The role is fully remote, offering flexibility and a competitive hourly rate.

Requirements

• Have experience working with complex spreadsheets and AI tools for data processing and online research
• Have at least one paid job in political field operations or organizing (canvassing, phone banking, door knocking, etc.) or phone-based customer service
• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or a related field and understand at least the basics of how local elections are administrated
• Be a patient and polite communicator who can build rapport with busy local election officials, especially in small communities
• Have a flexible schedule and are available to work for a minimum of 16 hours per week and can flex up to 40 hours per week if needed
• Be a self-starter who can work independently, take initiative, raise issues you’re seeing, and proactively solve problems
• Be detail-oriented with a strong ability to ensure data accuracy and completeness

Responsibilities

• Conduct online research and data cleaning to compile information on candidates running for local offices
• Call local elected offices to obtain and verify candidate filing information
• Navigate local government structures to identify relevant contacts and resources
• Maintain accurate and well-organized records in spreadsheets and databases
• Use AI tools to enhance data entry and cleaning efficiency
• Communicate professionally and politely with election officials, adapting to different personalities and communication styles
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve data collection processes
• Support Director of Research with relevant ad hoc projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Have prior experience in data research or administrative roles
• Have prior experience with AI tools for data processing and online research
