Summary

The job is for a Principal Cloud Engineer at Pulumi to work on the Cloud Engineering Platform team, help define strategies, create roadmaps, design solutions, code across various technologies, and mentor other developers. The role requires expertise in modern cloud-based systems architecture, systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, and experience with multiple programming languages.

Requirements

  • Tackles ambiguity and drives clarity
  • Expert at modern cloud-based systems architecture and distributed systems
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, first principles, critical thinking skills, good design sensibilities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Still loves to code and is a prolific contributor while still multiplying the efforts of the team

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team, PMs, and leadership to help define our long-term strategy and clarify requirements, while thinking about the customer
  • Create a roadmap and enable the team to achieve it
  • Design/Architect simple, cost-effective solutions to complex features
  • Code across our full stack (Angular/Typescript, Nodejs, Golang for API development)
  • Enable our SDK and providers to enable Pulumi Cloud functionality in multiple languages
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor other developers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in multiple programming languages such as Go, TypeScript, Python, Java, and C# (nice to have)
  • Experience with deployment orchestration and infrastructure as code tools (nice to have)
