Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Java Systems Engineer to join our remote team at Rackspace Technology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in information retrieval, processing, and ranking, and a strong background in public cloud technologies, especially GCP. The role involves developing scalable Java code, collaborating with team members, and working effectively in a remote setting.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field of study with 15+ years of relevant industry experience / Master’s degree in Computer Science with 10+ years of relevant industry experience
In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems
Familiarity with data mining, text processing and classification algorithms
Experience in algorithm design and machine learning
Several years of experience developing enterprise applications in core Java
Experience in building distributed, low-cost, internet-scale streaming systems in Java, ideally on Linux
E2E software development lifecycle experience, including building and maintaining production grade software
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Worked effectively in a remote setting, maintaining strong written and verbal communication skills
Hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform
Understanding of statistical methods and exploratory data analysis
Hands-on experience with Apache Hadoop

Responsibilities

Develop scalable and innovative robust Java code for information retrieval, processing, and ranking at massive scale
Build, enhance, optimize, and deploy tools, workflows, systems to process textual data for extraction of relevant information
Improve information extraction using machine learning and natural language processing techniques
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of technical requirements and project goals
Write detailed design documents, develop comprehensive automated tests, and coordinate automated deployments

Preferred Qualifications

Google Associate Cloud Engineer Certification or other Google Cloud Professional level certification
