Principal UX Designer

Summary

Join Minted as a Principal UX Designer and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenging business issues. You will establish tools and systems to understand customer needs, create design principles and guides, and prototype new features. This role requires a deep understanding of user behavior and design trends, with a focus on mobile-first design. You will also mentor a team of designers and contribute to the overall Minted experience.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience
• Deep user empathy and a natural curiosity for what drives behavior
• Significant experience tying UX strategy to headway on tough business challenges
• Experience with Figma, user testing, Confluence, and Google Suite
• Familiarity with user centered design principals

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope and solve Minted’s toughest and most unexplored business challenges
• Establish tools and systems that communicate the direction of Minted customers back to the business
• Maintain an active and evolving connection to the needs of our customers and artists
• Create an evolving set of principles and guides for content, language, and positioning across all of Minted
• Concept prototypes for new features and frameworks that both drive and inform business strategy
• Help determine prioritization of design work based on a deep understanding of present and future user needs
• Provide comprehensive oversight of the entire Minted Experience and help partners build new experiences
• Partner with researchers and designers to understand, map, and communicate the complete customer experience for Minted customers
• Contribute expertise in mobile user behavior & design trends, shifting towards a mobile-first design approach
• Lead in the creation and evolution of overarching principles and guides for content, language, and positioning across all of Minted
• Mentor a team comprised of roles that are brand new to Minted and integrate these new disciplines into processes that mesh with the broader product organization
• Focus on site navigation and hierarchy as a core initiative, including restructuring backend data structure and customer filters

Preferred Qualifications

• Senior/Lead level UX strategist with significant experience leading teams and addressing high-stakes business challenges
• Passionate about building an iterative and imaginative environment where new ideas can flourish
• A mentor or people manager who enjoys helping others meet their potential and diving into the work
• Highly skilled communicator who knows how to challenge ideas gracefully
• Open collaborator who listens and enjoys having their ideas challenged
• A storyteller who bridges the gap between current & future user journeys
• Expertise in user-centric design, visual design, user behavior, interactions, brand, and content best practices
• Deeply versed in design trends across app, mobile web, desktop, tablet, etc
• Able to oversee and advise full research cycles, and familiar with best practices in addition to qualitative and quantitative methods
