Product Design Lead

It will evolve into leading a small design team, overseeing their work, and improving design processes. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of design experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role, a strong portfolio, and excellent communication skills. This is a global virtual-first company with team members distributed worldwide.

Requirements

• Have 5+ years of experience in a design role, 2+ years of experience in a leadership role
• Possess an amazing portfolio and craft demonstrating top-level aesthetics and attention to detail
• Have vast experience in UX/UI product design for compelling mobile apps and web experiences that delight and engage the customer
• Possess hands-on research skills or experience in organizing research processes with the help of others
• Have excellent communication skills with different sets of audiences: customers and users, PMs and engineers, go-to-market and operations teams
• Have great graphic design and illustration skills or experience in efficiently outsourcing such tasks

Responsibilities

• Lead the design efforts as an equal partner to product and engineering
• Perform hands-on product UX/UI design for mobile and web app(s)
• Build a comprehensive design system for all our customer-facing and internal products
• Engage with customers and internal users to deeply understand their needs and market opportunities
• Drive UX research and user testing
• Build and manage the design team
• Coordinate and overview the work of other designers
• Improve design-related processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience and desire to lead and participate hands-on in marketing design, while product design would still remain the primary focus
• Have experience related to 3D scanning, CAD/BIM, home improvement, construction, or interior design
