Summary

Join Version 1 as a Product Manager and leverage your expertise in Agile and Lean practices to lead teams on Government Digital Service (GDS) projects. You will work to GDS standards, ensuring the development of consistent and user-friendly digital services. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define and prioritize a product roadmap, make data-driven decisions, and communicate product success to stakeholders. This role demands accountability for project benefits and securing funding, while managing stakeholder relationships and operational efficiency. Requirements

  • Be an expert in Agile and Lean practices, coaching and leading teams across the lifecycle stages of projects
  • Think of new and innovative ways of working to achieve the right outcomes, challenging stakeholders and the team to overcome barriers and achieve better results for the user and the organisation within legislative or commercial constraints
  • Create and own an end-to-end product roadmap, prioritizing the product backlog and getting buy-in from the organisation to ensure successful delivery
  • Work closely with research to understand user needs, ensuring the service is designed for the people who use it
  • Be experienced in product and service development and promote best practice across agile teams including implementing solutions for assisted digital users
  • Be accountable for realising project benefits and securing funding for projects when necessary
  • Realise the benefit of a product, how it integrates with other systems or services and align benefits to user needs and to the business case
  • Work with development teams to manage scope within commercial constraints such as budget restrictions or deadlines
  • Identify important stakeholders, tailoring communication to their needs, and work with teams to build these relationships across the project’s lifecycle stages
  • Have good communications skills, able to articulate the problem and help others to understand its impact
  • Use evidence to build consensus to deliver the best outcome
  • Know how to make operations efficient, acting as the escalation point for major operational issues
  • Work closely with leaders of operational delivery teams in an organisation

Responsibilities

  • Frame problems and set priorities for delivery teams working on Government Digital Service (GDS) projects
  • Work to GDS standards, ensuring the development of consistent and user-friendly end-to-end government digital services
  • Influence and provide direction on product development
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including delivery managers, user researchers, service designers and technical leads to define and prioritize a product roadmap and ensure delivery of successful outcomes
  • Make evidenced based strategic and tactical product decisions and make key priority calls
  • Develop the product strategy and set the product vision
  • Own the product roadmap and communicate product success to stakeholders
  • Defend controversial decisions about your product
  • Be experienced in product management techniques and frameworks
