Join Lightspeed as a Product Manager to own the payments experience for their flagship hospitality platform. You will lead a product team, build a comprehensive product strategy addressing the full payment journey, collaborate with designers and engineers, navigate technical complexities of payment systems, and identify opportunities to reduce payment friction. The role requires deep understanding of payment flows, collaboration with various teams, defining success metrics, and managing the product development lifecycle. Success will be measured by improved payment metrics, easier and more reliable payments for restaurant staff, and smooth checkout experiences for guests. Requirements
- 4+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time spent on payment products or fintech solutions
- Demonstrated success building customer-facing products where user experience was paramount to success
- Hands-on experience with payment processing concepts including authorization, capture, settlement, and reconciliation
- Understanding of payment security standards, compliance requirements, and how they translate to product decisions
- Experience collaborating with external partners, vendors, or platform providers to deliver integrated solutions
Responsibilities
- Deeply understanding how payment flows impact restaurant operations, from the server taking payment tableside to the manager reconciling at day's end
- Building a comprehensive product strategy that addresses the full payment journey—from payment method setup and selection through settlement and reconciliation
- Collaborating with designers to make the complexity of “payments” feel natural and intuitive for both restaurant staff and guests
- Navigating the technical complexity of payment systems, including working with our Financial Services team and occasionally interfacing directly with processors and hardware partners
- Identifying opportunities to reduce payment friction through smart product decisions around retry strategies, error handling, and success optimization
- Staying current with payment trends and regulations across our global markets, ensuring K-Series remains competitive and compliant
- Leading discovery efforts to understand payment pain points across different restaurant types and geographies
- Building and maintaining relationships with Financial Services, Compliance, Legal, and Support teams to ensure smooth product delivery
- Defining success metrics and using data to continuously monitor and improve authorization rates, reduce failures, and optimize the checkout experience
- Managing the product development lifecycle from concept through launch and iteration, ensuring high-quality delivery
