Requirements

  • 6+ years experience in public policy, legal, or a related field, preferably with a focus on privacy, technology, and digital policy
  • Strong understanding of the tech industry, privacy, and digital policy landscape, particularly as it pertains to advertising
  • Proven track record to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, product managers, and other technical experts
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex privacy issues clearly and with precision
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with a track record of effective external representation
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in public policy, law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal product and engineering teams to understand the privacy implications and regulatory aspects of products being developed, particularly in the area of privacy-preserving advertising
  • Proactively identify public policy challenges associated with the rollout of privacy-focused products and advertising solutions, and provide advice to mitigate these risks
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure the integration of privacy policy considerations in the product development process
  • Represent Mozilla in external forums, industry groups, and other venues on privacy policy issues, particularly related to advertising, ensuring our views are accurately and effectively communicated
  • Engage with policymakers, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders to advocate for privacy frameworks that support the open web and Mozilla’s privacy-preserving product initiatives
  • Translate complex technical concepts related to privacy and advertising into actionable policy insights and recommendations
  • Build and maintain documentation regarding privacy regulatory requirements, compliance, and policy considerations for various markets
  • Coordinate with global policy, legal, marketing, communications and the Mozilla Foundation’s teams to ensure consistency in privacy policy positions and advocacy efforts across different jurisdictions
  • Monitor, analyse, and communicate internally about emerging privacy policy issues, regulatory developments, and global trends affecting Mozilla's products and services, particularly in the advertising space
