Summary

Join Chamberlain University as a part-time online instructor and contribute to our University Seminar portfolio, designed to engage students throughout their academic journey. This role offers the unique opportunity to significantly impact student success. Responsibilities include facilitating virtual new student orientations, collaborating with faculty and staff, engaging students using an online LMS, coaching and mentoring students, partnering with academic leaders, monitoring student progress, and conducting virtual office hours. A Master's degree in a related field and at least two years of online teaching experience are required. Experience mentoring adult learners and first-year college students, along with proficiency in Canvas LMS and Microsoft Office products, is preferred. The compensation rate is between $715 and $1950 per earned credit hour, depending on education and experience.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Education, Adult Education, College Counseling or closely related field is required; candidates with a terminal degree in field are encouraged to apply
  • Master’s Degree in any area plus experience with college student success/student services processes - i.e. advising, student support services, counseling – will be considered
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in an online/virtual environment is required
  • Are eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect and care
  • Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose with the desire to enrich colleagues, students and the broader community
  • Are able to provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate virtual, new student orientation activities, ensuring a smooth transition into the academic environment
  • Collaborate with university faculty and staff to foster early student engagement, build community, and promote long-term academic success from the beginning of the degree program
  • Engage students using an online LMS as they use a competency-based approach to develop study skills in reading/critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and supportive learning content in nursing and health sciences
  • Coach, mentor, encourage and monitor students closely as they follow timelines and meet benchmarks during their competency-based progress during each 8-week course
  • Partner with academic leaders to develop strategies for success as areas of opportunity for students are identified and reported through extensive data collection and outcome assessment
  • Monitor student progress on a personalized learning path, referring students to academic resources and supportive learning as needed
  • Conduct virtual office hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with experience mentoring adult learners and first-year college students are encouraged to apply
  • Experience in online coaching and tutoring is preferred
  • Experience with Canvas LMS; Proficiency using Microsoft Office products strongly preferred
