Summary
Join Generation Citizen as the Mid-Atlantic Region Program Director, managing program implementation, partnership development, and regional expansion. Lead a team to deliver a community-based civics curriculum, steward school and district partnerships, and ensure program quality. Collaborate with the National Program Team and Mid-Atlantic Executive Director. This primarily remote position requires travel within the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. The role involves sales and partnership development, program management and quality improvement, program strategy, development, and policy & advocacy. Requirements
- 5+ years of nonprofit or education experience, with 3+ years of partnership recruitment and development experience
- Experience working with middle or high school students, educators, and administrators and familiarity with the language of education standards, curricular development, and school priorities
- Experience managing a diverse team of people with varying degrees of seniority
- A self-starter with the ability to navigate ambiguity and project manage multiple streams of work simultaneously
- Comply with local, federal, and site-based COVID-19 vaccination requirements
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to regularly travel within the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond
Responsibilities
- Meet school and district partnership development recruitment and retention goals in alignment with GC’s strategic plan, including securing Fee For Service district contracts
- Steward district and school relationships through a partnership arc that leads to the long-term sustainability of programming beyond GC’s direct support model
- Oversee program team members supporting Mid-Atlantic Region program implementation in delivering high-quality programming, ensuring program goals and quality metrics are met
- Work with the National Program Team to utilize systems to track, analyze, and report on programmatic data and keep stakeholders informed on program progress and forecasting
- Lead regional program team in Civics Day showcase execution, including supporting partner teachers and schools in Civics Day engagement
- Plan and facilitate regional program team meetings, retreats, and step-backs to support staff learning, collaboration, and goal execution
- Coordinate all aspects of nationally developed teacher professional development institutes, including planning, logistics, and facilitation
- Manage a small teacher caseload as needed
- Set annual programmatic goals and ensure progress toward annual goals in close collaboration with the National Program Team and the Mid-Atlantic team
- Work with the Mid-Atlantic Executive Director and finance team to strategically build Mid-Atlantic’s annual program budget, manage the budget, and oversee the programmatic team to ensure sustainable use of programmatic funds in the Mid-Atlantic region
- Work closely with the Mid-Atlantic Executive Director and National Development Team to ensure adequate philanthropic support in addition to Fee for Service to make the program financially sustainable. This includes partnering to support the development of strong funder relationships, grant writing, and reporting
- Partner with the Mid-Atlantic Executive Director and National Policy & Advocacy team to develop an approach to policy and advocacy in the region
- Support in the execution of the region’s policy goals, including driving campaigns as appropriate
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years in a classroom or adult learning setting
- Experience with data-informed evaluation to enhance program scalability and ensure alignment with key organizational priorities
