Reinsurance Manager

Summary

Join Wakam's dynamic Reinsurance team as the Reinsurance Lead Manager, playing a vital role in the company's growth strategy. You will manage key reinsurance relationships, lead treaty negotiations, and develop efficient risk transfer structures. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance Wakam's protection framework and align reinsurance solutions with the evolving product portfolio. Responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with reinsurance partners, leading the renewal process, designing and optimizing reinsurance program structures, drafting and revising treaty clauses, ensuring proper back-office management, monitoring treaty performance, maintaining reinsurance policy alignment, identifying areas for process improvement, and promoting internal understanding of reinsurance mechanisms. The ideal candidate possesses a degree in Actuarial Science, Insurance, Risk, or Management, 7-12 years of relevant experience, strong knowledge of P&C insurance, and excellent communication and negotiation skills. Requirements

• Degree in Actuarial Science, Insurance, Risk, or Management
• 7–12 years’ experience in a similar reinsurance or insurance leadership role
• Strong knowledge of P&C insurance economics, pricing, and Solvency II
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Proven ability to navigate complex negotiations and influence internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with reinsurance partners and identify new partnership opportunities
• Lead the renewal process: prepare files, run actuarial analysis, and participate in negotiations
• Design and optimise reinsurance program structures in line with Wakam’s business needs
• Draft and revise treaty clauses, participate in treaty writing, and ensure adequate protection with no gaps
• Ensure proper back-office management of treaties in close coordination with the Accounting team
• Monitor treaty performance and provide regular reporting to reinsurers
• Maintain the reinsurance policy and ensure alignment with the company’s risk appetite and compliance requirements
• Identify areas for process improvement and support the digital transformation of reinsurance workflows
• Promote internal understanding of reinsurance mechanisms through communication and awareness initiatives
