Remote Director, Engineering

The Director, Engineering will work on cutting-edge technologies to create robust and scalable solutions that meet our radiopharmaceutical business needs and enhance user experience. The role will lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced digital solutions for our Medical Technologies business unit. This role is pivotal in driving the technical strategy and ensuring the delivery of innovative and high-quality products alongside our radiopharmaceuticals.

Key Accountabilities:

• Define and implement the technical strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall vision and goals.
• Oversee the end-to-end development process, from initial concept through to deployment and maintenance, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including our Global Leads Surgical Solutions, Digital Products and Dosimetry Applications, as well as quality, regulatory affairs to ensure seamless integration and alignment of digital products and hardware-integrated software.
• Drive the architecture and design of scalable, cloud-native, and maintainable software solutions, ensuring best practices and coding standards are followed.
• Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and incorporate them into the engineering practices, including technologies such as AI/ML and edge computing.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines and standards, maintaining a focus on security, performance, scalability and reliability.
• Foster relationships with external partners, vendors, and research institutions to drive innovation and strategic initiatives.
• Manage the engineering budget, resources, and timelines, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
• Mentor and develop the engineering team, providing technical guidance and career development support.

Education and Experience:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required; a Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture for product development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the healthcare industry required
• Deep understanding of relevant health care standards (HIPAA, DICOM, 21CFR), computer system validation, regional regulatory requirements.
• Proven track record of leading and delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in software development, including security, performance, and scalability, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architecture.
• Experience with scalable system design & containerization technologies such as docker.
• Proven expertise in risk management and regulatory compliance assessments, particularly in healthcare or other highly regulated environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and concisely to various audiences.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop technical talent.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement and adapting to new challenges.
• Experience of leading teams in an ISO:62304 compliant environment.
• Knowledge of ISO:27001 preferred

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience with hardware integration and knowledge of hardware systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of data analytics, machine learning and applying AI-driven solutions to product development.
• Knowledge of user experience (UX) design principles and best practices.
