Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (master’s preferred)
- Extensive experience in environmental assessments and NEPA compliance
- Familiarity with federal environmental regulations, including NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, and the Clean Air Act
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and completion of the EA, ensuring that it meets all technical and legal requirements as outlined in NEPA, the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) regulations, and other applicable laws
- Develop and maintain a project schedule, ensuring timely completion of tasks, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Coordinate with the Air Force Nuclear Weapon Center (AFNWC) and the 75th Civil Engineer Group/Environmental (CEG/CEIE) to ensure all environmental impact areas are thoroughly assessed
- Identify and collect all necessary data to assess the environmental impacts of the proposed actions
- Evaluate baseline environmental conditions and predict potential impacts on air quality, cultural resources, natural resources, and other relevant areas
- Facilitate consultations with regulatory agencies, other government agencies, and stakeholders as required by NEPA and other environmental regulations
- Draft and manage correspondence for government review and approval, ensuring all consultation letters and notifications are correctly prepared, sent, and tracked
- Prepare and submit progress reports, draft and final EA documents, and Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI) as required
Job description
Position Overview: The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is constructing a 37,343 square foot facility that includes administrative offices, high-bay test cells, and other critical workspaces. To support this construction, the DAF requires the preparation of a legally and technically sufficient Environmental Assessment (EA) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related regulations. The primary goal is to assess the environmental impacts of the proposed actions and ensure all necessary legal compliance is met.
Work Location: Hill Air Force Base, Utah, with some remote coordination and travel as required for on-site data collection and meetings.
Responsibilities:
