Job description

About Starburst

At Starburst, we are working to dismantle the status quo of data silos and vendor lock-in every single day. For decades, database companies have held their customers hostage and we believe that’s just plain wrong. Starburst offers a full-featured data lake analytics platform, built on open source Trino. Our platform includes all the capabilities needed to discover, organize, and consume data without the need for time-consuming and costly migration projects. Today more than 300 leading organizations trust us to make better decisions faster.

Though Starburst has raised $414M in venture funding from top investors, we were founded in a rather unusual way as we bootstrapped the business with customers and revenue from the very beginning! We are a remote-first company with employees all over the world and are proud to be named a Best Place to Work. Come join our team of All-Stars!

About the role

We are looking for an Information Technology and people leader who is customer obsessed. You believe that success is found through people, not technology, and that the best antidote to shadow IT is strong user adoption. You will leverage your extensive knowledge, and ability to build relationships, to strategically up-level the employee experience. You will empower a global remote workforce to do their best work, securely and with low friction. You will drive innovation and efficiency across the business using technology and automation, and partner closely with Security and GRC to maintain a robust cybersecurity posture.

As a IT Manager at Starburst you will:

  • Lead and mentor a small team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative high-performance culture.
  • Be responsible for IT infrastructure, and application management strategy, ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability to support the business.
  • Oversee hardware distribution/collection and maintenance, asset inventory, and endpoint management processes, including peripherals and office technology.
  • Develop and maintain excellent documentation, both to support internal IT processes and to guide end-users
  • Provide a high quality helpdesk experience to Starburst employees.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and focus groups.
  • Clearly communicate changes in policy, technology, access, and experience early and often.

Some of the things we look for:

  • 1-3 years of experience working in a lead or management capacity.
  • Experience designing and integrating enterprise IAM systems and SSO.
  • Experience managing other core applications, including hosted productivity and communications applications like Google Workspace, Jira/Confluence, Slack, and Zoom.
  • Experience building and maintaining ticket workflows.
  • Experience managing hardware and software in a predominantly Mac environment, including patching and software deployment.
  • Experience deploying MDM solutions to a global workforce in a remote environment.
  • Deep, demonstrated understanding of change management best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and solution-oriented attitude.
