Summary
Join Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company (F&G) as a Senior Business Analyst to facilitate the analysis, design, and implementation of eApplication solutions for the Hexure Firelight platform. Collaborate with IT staff and various business units to identify and document optimal solutions. This role involves acting as a subject matter expert, mentoring team members, developing eApplication offerings, and interfacing with stakeholders. You will translate user requirements into functional specifications, manage requirements documentation, and improve business processes. The position may be located with a business unit or fully remote with occasional visits to the Des Moines, IA office.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
- 5-10 years’ experience in the financial services industry
- 5+ years of Business Analysis experience with demonstrated progression in responsibilities
- 3-5 years’ experience enhancing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the Hexure Firelight electronic order entry platform
- Able to succeed in a fast-paced environment while addressing multiple projects and priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group to include executives, managers, and subject matter experts inside as well as outside the company
- Willingness to learn new tools, complex concepts, and processes
- Organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
- Knowledge of industry best practices
- Sound analytical, judgment and decision-making skills

- Excellent planning and facilitation skills
- Comprehensive understanding of administrative systems and functions and how data feeds and order entry interact with them
- Understands general concepts of financial services/insurance environment, types of information used, how the data is produced, consumed, and transformed
- Understands and can independently perform the requirement gathering techniques necessary for completing requirements documentation
- Possess strong consultative skills and creativity to suggest enhancements to improve business processes
- Availability to work flexible hours or travel (5-10%) if needed to accommodate business needs
Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert for Firelight Electronic Order Entry (eApplication) and data feed areas
- Mentor and train less seasoned team members to develop expertise
- Develop and maintain eApplication product offerings
- Act as a primary interface with the business for Firelight and other eApplication tools in providing support, communication, and training
- Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options and communicate this back to the business stakeholders in the form of a requirements document
- Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to the eApplication Business Analyst
- Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
- Follow the company development methodology (SDLC) and project lifecycle to manage the requirements documentation & coordination with other departmental units
- Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Plan, design & recommend business process improvement and support business activities
- Work with business functions to identify opportunities for enhanced experience
- Be forward thinking and identify gaps of requests customers want today and how that may impact future decisions
- Evaluate critical system defects by determining and communicating priorities based on impacts to business and work toward solutions to resolving them
- Provide Firelight eApplication systems expertise to system users, business partners and other internal/external customers including troubleshooting issues, as well as, identifying and correcting inefficiencies
Preferred Qualifications
- Insurance industry experience & knowledge of Annuity/Life products strongly preferred
- ACORD Certified Expert (ACE) highly desired
- LOMA designations such as FLMI are highly desired
