Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable software solutions primarily using Java
- Engage with our current Ruby stack, applying your problem-solving skills to understand, maintain, and enhance the codebase, with the willingness to learn and adapt to Ruby if not already familiar
- Partner with Product Management to scope, design, plan, and deliver high-impact product features
- Work closely with Customer Success to ensure the seamless delivery and adoption of new products and features
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership to align engineering initiatives with business objectives and drive company-wide strategies
- Maintain a daily pulse on team dynamics and project progress, ensuring alignment with objectives
- Foster a positive, motivated work culture in line with ModMedβs core values
- Drive the continuous improvement of team processes and engineering culture, scaling the team effectively
- Oversee the scheduling, resourcing, and capacity planning for engineering teams
- Develop individualized growth plans for team members, actively supporting their career development
- Conduct regular 1:1s to provide feedback, mentorship, and guidance
- Address and resolve conflicts, taking corrective action when necessary to manage performance
- Ensure that contract engineers are effectively integrated and managed
- Attract and hire top-tier technical talent, employing best practices in recruitment and selection
- Ensure that new hires are thoroughly onboarded and integrated into the team and culture
- Consistently deliver projects that meet or exceed quality standards and stakeholder expectations
- Manage expectations across all levels, including senior leadership, management, and customers
- Set clear goals and manage timelines, ensuring on-time delivery
- Utilize a data-driven approach to report on the status of ongoing initiatives and projects
- Assess project feasibility by analyzing technology, resource needs, and market demand
- Propose and implement innovative technologies, integrations, and tools in collaboration with technical teams
- Partner with Tech Leads and Architects to ensure the adoption of best engineering practices
- Provide expert guidance in both engineering and project leadership, adding value through technical insights
- Align engineering efforts with business goals, helping engineers understand the business impact of their work
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of DevOps practices, driving solutions to technical challenges
