Remote Software Engineer

Summary

Join our team at Sumo Logic and contribute to the development of an extremely robust and lean Open Telemetry collection engine. As a member of the Open Source/Open Telemetry Collector team, you will design and implement features for this next-generation data collector built on Open Telemetry. With experience in Go or other statically typed languages, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD tools, you will work collaboratively to respond quickly and effectively to business needs.

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline
• 2-4 years of industry experience - ( Mid-Level)
• Experience with Go is preferred or other statically typed language (Java, Scala, C++)
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes and familiarity with Helm, and Terraform and modern CI/CD
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
• Understand the performance characteristics of commonly used data structures (maps, lists, trees, etc)
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, solve problems and adapt to new technologies

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features for an extremely robust and lean Open Telemetry collection engine
• Write robust code with unit and integration tests
• Contribute to the upstream OpenTelemetry project
• Work as a team member, helping the team respond quickly and effectively to business needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the monitoring/observability space
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Working experience with GitHub actions or other CI pipelines
• A GitHub account with recent activity
• Contributions to open source projects
