Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversite using your knowledge of engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize coordinate, communicate, and execute necessary assignments to accomplish the goals, objectives, and fulfill the purpose of the client
  • Confirm all work is performed and completed in strict accordance with contract documents
  • Participate as a technical advisor to the Client Owner and other team members
  • Deliver scope, meeting the schedule, and adhering to budget for assigned projects
  • Mentor and teach skills to engineers and other team members
  • Contribute in proposal preparation and assist with business development related activities
  • Assist with other required tasks

Job description

AMT is seeking a Transportation Project Manager for a position in our Towson, Maryland, Rockville, Maryland, or Herndon, Virginia offices.  The position is full-time, and AMT will provide the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2 to 3 days per week, as agreed upon with the Transportation Group Leader.

As a project team member, you will be responsible for (1) providing oversite using your knowledge of engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize coordinate, communicate, and execute necessary assignments to accomplish the goals, objectives, and fulfill the purpose of the client, (2) confirming all work is performed and completed in strict accordance with contract documents, (3) participating as a technical advisor to the Client Owner and other team members, (4) delivering scope, meeting the schedule, and adhering to budget for assigned projects, (5) mentoring and teaching skills to engineers and other team members, (6) contributing in proposal preparation and assisting with business development related activities, and (7) assisting with other required tasks.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead multidiscipline teams to deliver transportation design projects
  • Serve as liaison between client and project team including external stakeholder agencies
  • Manage all technical resources on the project team including subconsultants
  • Prepare task proposals and establish project pricing and budgets
  • Develop project management plans for assigned projects and prepare monthly progress reports
  • Create and maintain project schedules
  • Lead or participate in client meetings and presentations
  • Provide quality control reviews of submittals and deliverables
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff
  • Assist with production tasks (CADD drawings, reports, graphics/renderings, etc.)
  • Coordinate and assist Group Leaders and Directors with business development and marketing proposals

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC
  • 10+ years’ experience in roadway, highway, and traffic control plan preparation
  • Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
