Responsibilities

  • Lead the company’s taxable income and effective tax rate projection process
  • Act as a liaison for Tax within FP&A and Strategic Finance
  • Lead the company’s quarterly valuation allowance process
  • Lead the Tax Department’s efforts on a quarterly basis to document the proper tax legal and tax accounting associated with Fortitude’s intercompany transactions
  • Lead the Tax Department’s competitor analysis process
  • Lead the Tax Department’s efforts with maintaining U.S. and non-U.S. earnings and profits balances
  • Lead the Tax Department’s efforts with maintaining subsidiary tax basis for the company’s U.S. and non-U.S. structures
  • Mentor and coach tax professionals within Tax Operations and Tax Strategy
  • Engage and manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants

This role reports directly to the SVP, Head of Tax and is responsible for leading multiple tax planning and analysis workstreams.  This role focuses on providing strategic tax advice to Fortitude’s Senior Management and the Company’s Board of Directors in support of the company’s business objectives and other planned initiatives. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for leading the Company’s forward-looking taxable income and effective tax rate projection processes, acting as a liaison with the Company’s FP&A and Strategic Finance teams, and overseeing the tax-focused competitor analysis process.  The role requires a deep understanding of the Company’s consolidated tax profile, with the ability to integrate workstreams from the Tax Strategy and Tax Operations teams into broader projection efforts.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the company’s taxable income and effective tax rate projection process, including managing data requests from groups outside tax and coordinating the necessary tax support needed from Tax Operations and Tax Strategy departments.
  • Act as a liaison for Tax within FP&A and Strategic Finance, including the ability to explain the tax profile of Fortitude and the nature and extent of the pre-tax data that will need to be compiled for tax planning purposes.
  • Lead the company’s quarterly valuation allowance process, including the preparation of necessary workpapers, supporting memoranda, and control documentation.
  • Lead the Tax Department’s efforts on a quarterly basis to document the proper tax legal and tax accounting associated with Fortitude’s intercompany transactions, including coordination with Tax Operations and Tax Strategy, and incorporating the impact in the taxable income and effective tax rate projection process.
  • Lead the Tax Department’s competitor analysis process.
  • Lead the Tax Department’s efforts with maintaining U.S. and non-U.S. earnings and profits balances.
  • Lead the Tax Department’s efforts with maintaining subsidiary tax basis for the company’s U.S. and non-U.S. structures.
  • Mentor and coach tax professionals within Tax Operations and Tax Strategy that will provide the support and assistance on the various workstreams outlined above, including coordination of schedules with the VP, Tax Strategy and the VP, Tax Operations.
  • Engage and manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants.

The base salary range for this role is listed below and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

Base Salary Range

$190,000—$240,000 USD
