Join Bisnow's growing editorial team as a San Francisco Freelance Reporter! This remote position requires covering Bay Area commercial real estate news, writing articles, and attending Bisnow events. You'll need 2+ years of business journalism experience, excellent writing and news judgment skills, and digital proficiency. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a commitment to diverse storytelling and sourcing. Bisnow offers a monthly retainer for consistent income, paid vacation, and a collaborative work environment. Knowledge of commercial real estate and relevant contacts is a plus.

Requirements

• Have 2+ years of experience in business journalism
• Possess great writing skills
• Demonstrate excellent news judgment
• Have digital experience
• Be a self-starter
• Be a thoughtful and articulate writer who is interested in building his/her voice and journalistic brand on Bisnow.com
• Have a commitment to seeking diverse stories and sourcing
• Have the ability to travel around the Bay Area, and have availability to attend/cover Bisnow-hosted events

Responsibilities

• Write roughly four articles a week of varying lengths and types, and produce daily morning briefs
• Cover breaking news and deeper enterprise reporting in the Bay Area’s commercial real estate industry
• Work a beat, traveling around the Bay Area covering the latest trends, personalities and news related to the commercial real estate industry
• Infiltrate the CRE industry — turning arcane data into useful and entertaining information while maintaining personal relationships with lots of leads and sources
• Have an intimate knowledge of the Bay Area's CRE business — knowing where the major players are located, what deals they are responsible for and what events they attend
• Work with the global news teams on major projects and national series
• Work with a local team of event producers and sales representatives to assist in the content of events

Preferred Qualifications

• Have knowledge of commercial real estate, urban and community planning and urban design
• Have contacts within the commercial real estate, urban and community planning and urban design scenes
