Summary

Join ProPublica's Local Reporting Network and contribute to impactful investigative journalism! We're seeking five full-time reporters across five different states for a one-year investigative project starting July 1, 2025. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong investigative reporting background and propose a compelling project. ProPublica will provide a salary of up to $75,000 plus benefits, along with extensive support and guidance. The project will be published by both your newsroom and ProPublica. Applications are due April 14, 2025, and successful applicants will be notified by early June. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of investigative reporting and impact
  • Submit an application by April 14, 2025
  • Application should be submitted by the reporter in collaboration with newsroom leaders
  • Applicant’s name should be the reporter’s

Responsibilities

  • Have a proven track record of investigative reporting and impact
  • Provide a memo about the project they’re proposing for the duration of the partnership
  • Work from and report to their home newsrooms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Express why the project needs to be told in your community
  • Explain how the project would benefit from this collaboration, potentially including data, research and engagement reporting resources we can provide
  • Discuss how the project may resonate with both local and national audiences
