Revenue Accountant II

Summary

Join Samsara's dynamic team as a Revenue Analyst and play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition and compliance. You will analyze customer contracts, perform revenue calculations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to month-end/year-end processes. This remote position, open to US and Canadian residents (excluding specified locations), requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, 2+ years of relevant experience, and a strong understanding of ASC 606. The ideal candidate will possess a CPA or show interest in obtaining one, along with experience in NetSuite. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
• 2+ years relevant accounting experience
• Strong understanding of ASC 606 or IFRS
• Proven experience in contract review and analysis
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software

Responsibilities

• Apply ASC 606 principles to analyze and interpret customer contracts, ensuring accurate revenue recognition
• Assist with the resolution of audit findings and recommendations
• Perform revenue calculations and adjustments, including allocation of transaction prices, determination of performance obligations, and recognition of revenue over time
• Review customer contracts for revenue-related terms and conditions, identifying potential revenue recognition implications
• Collaborate with sales, legal, and other departments to ensure contract compliance and accurate revenue recognition
• Perform monthly and quarterly revenue reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for revenue fluctuations
• Prepare journal entries and other accounting documentation related to revenue
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Help implement process improvements by identifying weaknesses in the close process

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or interest in obtaining CPA
• Experience working under strict deadlines and ensuring compliance with company policies
• Must be a fast learner, multi-tasker with a strong desire to learn and a ‘can do’ attitude
• Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively
• Experience with NetSuite
• Critical thinker, able to implement scalable processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
