Revenue Accounting Manager

Summary

Join Grafana's Finance Team as a Revenue Accounting Manager and play a critical role in the company's accounting and financial operations. Oversee day-to-day revenue accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and revenue recognition standards. Review non-standard contracts, create accounting process efficiencies, and provide guidance to cross-functional teams. Develop and implement controls to mitigate risks, analyze revenue trends, and collaborate with the finance team on financial reporting. Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting and operations at some combination of public companies, late-stage startups, and public accounting firms
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently
• Extensive analytical skills and comfort with managing data in Excel and/or data visualization tools
• Solid understanding of internal controls and experience implementing or improving control processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day revenue accounting operations, including the recording, analysis, and reporting of revenue transactions
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, revenue recognition standards (e.g., ASC 606), and company policies
• Review and analyze non-standard contracts to determine proper revenue recognition under ASC 606 and other applicable standards
• Create efficiencies in accounting processes by implementing technology solutions and automation to streamline revenue close cycles
• Provide guidance and support to cross functional teams during contract negotiations to ensure revenue recognition aligns with company policies and accounting standards
• Develop and implement controls to mitigate risks and ensure accurate revenue recognition
• Analyze revenue trends, identify potential issues or discrepancies, and provide insights and recommendations to management
• Collaborate with the finance team to support the overall financial reporting process and ensure consistency across financial statements
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate revenue-related audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
