Summary
Join SimplePractice as the Manager of Revenue & Technical Accounting, reporting to the VP, Controller. You will be a key player in the Accounting organization, primarily responsible for revenue recognition, technical accounting, and financial reporting. This hands-on role involves managing revenue close accounting, leading projects, developing processes, and improving the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, solutions-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with various teams and manage key accounting processes. Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience
- 5+ years hands-on, high volume transaction experience and including working with Netsuite ERP and Stripe
- Can work independently and collaborate with a team, as projects require
- Are detail-oriented and able to find any discrepancies
- Have strong knowledge of ASC 606 with experience including deal structuring and contract review, and commission accounting
- Have experience preparing technical accounting memos and revenue recognition policies
- Develop accounting processes, systems, policies, documentation, and controls, including ASC 606
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Manage the revenue close and reporting processes, including the review of JEs, reconciliations, and other various reporting deliverables
- Maintain revenue controls & implement/design new ones as needed
- Determine revenue recognition policy for new products and implement new revenue-related guidance as applicable
- Collaborate with business operations to determine appropriate and accurate customer invoicing for new products, and maintain appropriate invoicing for existing products
- Manage Capitalized Internal Software process and relationship with engineering team to provide accurate calculations and efficient/repeatable processes
- Manage commissions process, including implementation and maintenance of ASC 340 policy
- Manage state sales tax process, including monthly reconciliation process, filings, and periodic registration needs
- Collaborate with Customer Success team on customer inquiries regarding invoicing, billing, sales tax
- Assist with lender and sponsor reporting
- Project management with tax consultants for larger scale SALT needs
- Implementation and maintenance of new sales tax software (Anrok)
- Ad Hoc accounting / reporting projects as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license
- Prior high-growth experience in a PLG
- A passion for continuous learning and improvement (both at a personal and team level)
