Routing Specialist

Summary

The job is for a Wayfinder team member at Sofar Ocean, a company focused on marine weather forecasting and ocean intelligence. The role involves operational tasks such as ship routing support, data analysis, and improving internal tooling. The candidate should have experience in the shipping or maritime industry, be comfortable with data analysis, python, and modern web applications. The role is remote from the APAC region.

Requirements

• Experience working in the shipping or maritime industry, specifically with ship or weather routing
• Comfortable with data analysis, modern web applications, and python
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, having communicated with customers around the globe
• Experience working with team members in across time zones
• A passion for and/or connection to the oceans
• Ability to work five 8-hour shifts per week (either Thursday-Monday schedule or Tuesday-Saturday schedule)

Responsibilities

Perform mission-critical operational tasks such as ship routing support, critical operational tasks for data and service products, helping the ocean science team wrangle new data sources for analysis, and helping to improve our internal tooling

Preferred Qualifications

• Data visualization skills
• Ability to speak multiple languages
