Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience in rules engine development, including 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Certification in business rules management systems or project management (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master)
  • Expertise in BRMS platforms such as Drools, IBM ODM, or Red Hat Decision Manager
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or other relevant programming languages
  • Strong understanding of SQL and database technologies, including data modeling
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
  • Excellent problem-solving skills focused on scalable, maintainable solutions
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of rules engineers in designing, developing, and implementing business rules systems
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and align solutions with organizational goals and compliance standards
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and optimization of business rules using platforms like Drools, IBM ODM, or similar tools
  • Establish and enforce best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor team members, and support professional development
  • Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of rules engine solutions
  • Manage project plans, timelines, and team deliverables to meet deadlines
  • Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Document technical solutions and provide training for end-users and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in SAFe/Agile Software Development
  • Familiarity with VA environment is a plus
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance
  • Azure Certified Cloud Practitioner or any related certification
