Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Neuroscience, or a related field
• Demonstrated expertise in AI alignment or related areas
• Strong publication record in relevant academic journals and conferences
• Experience in leading research projects and teams
• Software development experience. Ideally with Python, git, and common machine learning libraries
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, including comfort working with startup structures and entrepreneurial executives
• Not afraid to try new things
• Passion for AI alignment and ethical considerations in technology

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct high-quality research in AI alignment, focusing on novel and neglected approaches
• Collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership team in setting research agendas, ensuring we pursue the most impactful work
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ambitiously accelerate alignment research
• Play a pivotal role in sifting through and prioritizing a multitude of ideas and projects, contributing to decision-making processes at the highest level
• Publish and present research findings in top-tier journals and conferences
• Guide and mentor junior researchers and team members
• Work closely with AE Studio’s Project Success team to guide and manage AI alignment projects
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI alignment and related fields
• Contribute to the broader AI alignment community through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and public engagement
