Senior Analyst

Summary

Join Upwork's Payments Analytics team as a senior analyst to measure and optimize payment and tax platform initiatives. You will leverage your quantitative skills and expertise with large datasets to gain insights into user behavior and site performance. Responsibilities include designing and analyzing A/B tests, defining success metrics, presenting findings to leadership, and tackling complex problems in a double-sided marketplace. You will also dive into the unit economics of payment processes and work on strategic projects like Pay by Bank and new vendor integrations. Requirements

• Ability to drive analytics projects end-to-end in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for getting into the details
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with experimentation (A/B testing, causal inference)
• Proficiency in one or multiple BI tools such as Looker or Tableau

Responsibilities

• Propose, design and analyze A/B tests using SQL, Python, R and/or other scripting and statistical tools
• Become the authority on user behavior for our payments platform, applying data science techniques and analytical skill to unearth deep insights on the customer journey
• Define the metrics teams use to evaluate their success, perform analysis to understand the impact on growth, and track progress toward those results
• Present in key meetings and business reviews with our product leadership
• Tackle complex problems inherent to a double-sided marketplace. Deliver insights that drive changes in product strategy
• Deep dive into the unit economics of our payments processes and find efficiencies for optimal cost/revenue per transaction
• Work on strategic Payments processes and vendor expansion projects, for eg: Pay by Bank, New vendors for FX conversions etc

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python or R a plus
• Previous experience in a marketplace or ecommerce business
• Previous experience in a fintech, marketplace, or ecommerce business
• Previous experience with payments platforms and relevant ecosystems
